The following is a sample of some of the Florida Keys Summer Camps.

Marathon sailing

Florida Keys Summer Camp Marathon Yacht ClubSummer sailing in Marathon’s Boot Key Harbor will begin with the first two week session beginning June 13 – June 24.  Each session will consist of 10 three hour classes in either the morning (9am –Noon) or afternoon (1‐4pm).  Younger sailors (5‐8 year olds) will be scheduled in the morning and older sailors (9‐18 year olds) will be scheduled in the afternoon.

Class size will be limited to 4 younger sailors (5‐8 year olds) and 8 older sailors (9‐18 year olds).  Students will be sailing Blue Dragon prams or Sunfish, depending on student size and weight.  Each student must bring a Coast Guard approved lifejacket, fitted to the student and labeled with their name, as well as wear closed toed footwear to the class.  Labeled sunscreen and a labeled refillable water bottle will also be required for each student.  There will be a swim test.  Life jackets may be worn during the swim test if the student desires.    Applications will be taken first come, first served.

Subsequent sessions will be from June 27 – July 9 (we will not sail on Monday, July 4th, but will sail on Saturday July 9); July 11‐ July 22 and July 25 – August 5.  An application package and program manual can be found on the Marathon Yacht Club Educational Foundation website at www.MYCEF.education.  Click on the “Sailing Program” icon on the top left side on the Home Page.  Application packages may be printed, completed, signed, scanned and emailed back to .

The cost of each session is $100 per student.  Credit card payment information can be included in the completed application package.   If you don’t have computer access, please call (707) 849‐0072 to obtain a printed version of the application package and discuss alternative registration.


Upper Keys sailing

The Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program at the Upper Keys Sailing Club
Summer Camp 2016

Florida Keys Summer CampsMSYSP will once again offer its fantastic sailing summer camp for kids ages 7 and up beginning the week of June 13th. Parents can sign up their kids for any of the 8 one week sessions we are offering. Kids will have the opportunity to learn to sail on a variety of boats under the guidance and supervision of US Sailing certified instructors.

Snorkeling, near-by island excursions, swimming, fun Fridays and other outdoor activities will keep the kids entertained and active all summer long.

Online registration for the Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program’s summer camp at the Upper Keys Sailing Club is open at www.msysp.org.

Kids ages 7 through 17 are welcome to the weekly sessions. There’s a variety of boats that campers can use. Cost per week per camper is $265. Camp is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The weekly sessions start June 13 and run though Aug. 5 at the sailing club, 100 N. Ocean Bay Drive in Key Largo.

Campers should bring a reusable water bottle, rash guard shirt, crocs or water booties, sun block, bug repellant, hat, sun glasses, lunch, life jacket, towel, mask and snorkel, water toys and a change of cloths. No electronic devices such as iPads are allowed.

Ocean Explorers

REEF Ocean Explorers Camp will immerse you into an ocean of learning and fun! REEF will introduce campers to the underwater world and all the amazing things found beneath the sea! Discover the crazy critters found on the coral reef and learn the mysteries of the marine mammals that swim in the sea.

Campers are responsible for bringing a sack lunch each day or can add a $50 camp box lunch option for the week. The nutritious meal will include a sandwich (turkey, ham, tuna, cheese, peanut butter and jelly), chips, fruit, and a drink. REEF will provide an afternoon snack each day. 

$50 Box Lunch is a mandatory add-on for July 11-15, at Post Card Inn, Islamorada, FL

What to Expect: 

A camp for the ocean-minded and adventurous! Join REEF Ocean Explorers Camp to make a splash this summer! The week will include:

  •    Snorkel trips to North America’s only living coral barrier reef
  •    Kayak venture into winding mangrove trails
  •    Visit to Theater of the Sea Adventure Park (Only at Post Card Inn Camp)
  •    Glass bottom boat ride offering a view from the surface (Only at John Pennekamp State Park Camp)
  •    Learn about and meet a bird with the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center
  •    Learn about marine invertebrates with a hands-on touch tank
  •    Arts and crafts including a lionfish necklace or keychain
  •    Marine science lessons including a squid dissection
  •    Opportunity to connect with nature and make new friends

ArtCamp!

Florida Keys Summer CampsArtCamp! launched some thirty summers ago by education volunteers of the Society. With the historic Fort East Martello, also known as the Imagination Institute, serving as the classroom along with the Society’s vast collection of art and historical objects, students use the arts and more to explore, educate, inspire and create. Each child can experience and satisfy their need for physical activity, creative expression, individual development, and participation in a community environment all while having fun!

Camp commences at 9:00AM and ends at 4:00PM. Each week the children will enjoy a field trip to a local museum or venue associated with the camps theme. To ensure the comfort of your child throughout the day, we have included a list of essentials. Please pack these items in a beach bag that can be left at the camp. The bags will be kept in a designated storage area that the children will have access to. It is important that all items are labelled with your child’s name. Snacks will be provided; however the children will require a packed lunch. Pizza will be provided on Friday unless otherwise notified. We look forward to sharing an action-packed summer with your child.

Middle Keys

Florida Keys Summer CampsThe Marathon Parks and Recreation Department begins its nine-week summer camp on June 13. It’ll run through Aug. 12 and is geared toward kids ages 5 to 13. Camp headquarters is the Marathon Community Park’s main pavilion and the camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. If needed, campers may be brought for supervision as early as 7:30.

$80 per week with a $20 discount that applies to additional family members.  The cost includes field trips. Campers can attend week to week or all summer.

Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunches, snacks (morning and afternoon), backpack and water bottle. Once a week, the campers will travel by school bus to the Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo for a day of water fun.  At least one other out-of-town field trip is planned each week.

FKCC camp

Florida Keys Summer CampsFlorida Keys Community College on Stock Island hosts “summer adventure camps,” an assortment of one-week day camps, from June 13 through Aug. 12.

The camps, designed for kids ages 7 to 17, provide hands-on activities that will allow campers to tap their creative talents, explore academic interests, develop technical skills, and make friends. Hours are weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Costs and dates for each camp vary.

The camp sessions are Aqua Fit, Cooking and More oh my!, Code Breakers, Health-care Exploration, Marine Science, Junior Lifeguard, and Scuba Adventures for Teens.

Florida Keys Community College invites kids, tweens, and teens to take part in the FKCC’s Summer Adventure Camps.  Campers will have the opportunity to tap their creative talents, explore careers, expand their academic interests, hone technical skills, and make new friends.  Parents and guardians can trust FKCC to deliver a high-quality camp experience in a safe, comfortable, and stimulating learning environment.

FKCC’s Summer Adventure Camps are comprised of one-week sessions that run June 13 through August 19 at FKCC’s Key West Campus.  The variety of camps will appeal to a range of interests and provide hands-on activities designed for specific age levels.

Coral Camp

Florida Keys Summer CampsDive into Coral Camp, explore coral reefs & the underwater world!

Reef Relief in Key West has its annual Coral Camp for kids ages 6 to 12.

Each day, campers experience hands-on learning, interactive games and outdoor activities, plus field trips around Key West. Campers also experience four days of snorkeling.

Weekly sessions begin June 13 and go through Aug. 19. Sessions are limited to 25 campers per session. A limited number of scholarships are available to those who qualify. Coral Camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees are $225 per child per week or $200 per child per week when registering for multiple weeks or with siblings.

Coral Camp 2016 registration is now open! When school lets out, Coral Camp begins. Children 6 -12 years of age explore and learn about our surrounding marine environment through exciting education activities at the Reef Relief Environmental Center in Key West. Each fun-packed day, campers will experience hands-on learning, interactive games and daily field trips.

Weekly sessions are limited to 25 campers per session. A limited number of scholarships are available to those who qualify. Coral Camp runs Monday – Friday from 8:30am- 4:30pm. Camp fees are $225/week or $200/week for multiple week sign ups. To insure the safety of our campers scheduled field trips are subject to cancellation due to weather conditions or other safety concerns. Space is limited!

Studios of Key West

Florida Keys Summer CampsThe Studios of Key West’s summer art school for kids ages 10 to 14 also offers youths plenty of opportunity for creative adventure.

There are six one-week sessions, and kids may sign up for one or more weeks. Discounts are offered for siblings and multiple week enrollments. Art school is designed to provide one-on-one attention through small class size and hands-on activities. Everything from creating artwork to learning to playing music is also covered.

Sessions are June 20 to 24, June 27 to July 1, July 11 to 15, July 18 to 22, July 25 to 29 and Aug. 1 to 5. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and therefore students should bring a bagged lunch. The cost is $265 a week ($240 a week for Studios members. You’re With the Band:  Spend the week singing, playing instruments and learning how to bring everyone’s sound together. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to put on your first concert with your new band.

WEEK 3: July 11 – 15

Art School:  Young, up-and-coming local artist Maria Fialova leads art-minded students through a week of activities and projects, in a variety of media. The week will culminate with an exhibition of all the mini-masterpieces.

WEEK 4: July 18 – 22

One Human Camp:  Explore the arts of other cultures and have the opportunity to create your own versions. We’ll craft beaded Maasai necklaces, protect ourselves with an evil eye, and chill out with some yoga. Our final day we’ll host an exhibition of your work and taste some foods from around the world.

WEEK 5: July 25 – 29

Be So Dramatic:  Let your flair for the dramatic come through in full force. Our acting coaches will walk you through scenes, and help you make an impact on stage. At the end of the week, you’ll have a chance to show off your new skills in a special performance.

Conch Kids; Back to Our Roots: Learn the most interesting stories you’ve never heard about your hometown and then get out into the community as we hunt for ghosts and explore the homes of wreckers. Our final day will be a full day field trip kayaking to Indian Key.

Florida Keys Summer CampThe Pigeon Key Foundation & Marine Science Center gravitates towards hands-on learning and interaction within the Florida Keys ecosystem, providing campers with a fun and pivotal, one-of-a-kind experience. Its summer camp is designed to give campers a multi-faceted understanding of the marine world around them. Programs include marine habitats of the Florida Keys, invertebrate biodiversity, reef fish identification, shark biology and plankton.

PKFMSC offers a variety of marine programs, giving your campers a solid and multi-faceted understanding of the marine world around them. Campers are given a brief background on the subject and then immersed in the field, allowing them to utilize their newly acquired knowledge.

Programs include Marine Habitats of the Florida Keys, Invertebrate Biodiversity, Reef Fish Identification, Marine Adaptations, Shark Biology & Dissection, Plankton Lab, and many others.

Other activities include a variety of games, marine organism scavenger hunts, an underwater obstacle course, a Sombrero Reef snorkel trip aboard a 40-foot catamaran called the “Spirit,” and many more.

Day camp costs $350, runs 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, and is for ages 8-16. Overnight camp costs $950, runs 9am Monday-5pm Friday, and is for ages 10-16. Price includes…

Therefore enrolling your child in nature camp at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden for fun, adventure, and the benefits of life outside is important! Great for curious kids who love to explore and learn about the world around them- each half day will be full of games, crafts, science, and “wild -life”!
