The Gardens Hotel
526 Angela St., Key West FL 33040 Ranked #2 “Best Hidden Gems in the US” and #5 “Best for Romance in the US” for 2006 on TripAdvisor.com. Named “The Prettiest Hotel In Key West” by The New York Time’s List

The historic wooden buildings that comprise The Gardens remain themselves unobtrusive within the walled confines of the corner property on Simonton and Angela streets. Cobblestone walkways meander through tropical gardens featuring hanging orchids, brilliant hibiscus and four African tortoises. Foam mats float lazily in the heated pool, which is separate from the tucked-away hot tub.

The Gardens estate houses 17 luxurious guest suites amidst one of Florida’s oldest and most respected tropical gardens. Once the largest private estate in Key West, the expansive grounds of The Gardens Hotel comprise over an acre of lush, tropical landscaping just steps away from Key West’s infamous Duval Street.

Guests love that Erika Biddle at the front desk speaks five languages, that bartender Billy Rentz is always ready with a smile, a story and a stiff drink. The champagne guests are handed during check-in doesn’t hurt, either.

Merlin Guesthouse
811 Simonton St., Key West, FL 33040Most Key West guest houses don’t cater to, some don’t even allow, families, but the Merlin Guesthouse is an exception, in more ways then this. This should not be a surprise in Key West but you should be warned, there’s no parking lot. This site is only a block from Duval Street.
