Welcome the Holiday Season at Lower Keys Island Art Festival

Santa might wear shorts in the subtropical Lower Florida Keys, and palm trees might outnumber Christmas trees, but holiday lovers can find plenty of seasonal spirit amid the area’s balmy breezes and warm temperatures. Visitors and Keys residents are invited to welcome the festive season and celebrate the creative arts at the free-admission Big Pine & Lower Keys Island Art Festival. The event is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, on the grounds of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, mile marker 31 oceanside in Big Pine.

Scheduled highlights include exhibits and booths featuring handcrafted art, jewelry, craft items and other creations by local artists and artisans. An annual tradition in the Lower Keys, the family-friendly event offers attendees an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind holiday gifts and artwork while enjoying the region’s serene natural atmosphere.

Items contributed by festival exhibitors are to be raffled throughout the day, providing additional chances to obtain unique Keys artistry for gift giving or personal collections.

The holiday happening also is to feature live music by favorite local bands and entertainers, as well as food and beverages offered by on-site vendors.

Like admission, parking for the event is free. However, attendees are requested not to bring picnic baskets or coolers.
