Pelican Cove Resort in Islamorada – Keys Kool

Pelican Cove Resort - IslamoradaA lot has been said (and written) about the “feel’’ of the Florida Keys. That feel really is whatever you want it to be, which pretty much sums up the Keys. That is, there is something for everyone – and everyone’s tastes – between Key Largo and Key West.

Between Key Largo and Key West is Islamorada – the Village of Islands – popular for its sport fishing and clear, clean waters. An excellent place to experience the fishing and waters is Pelican’s Cove, a newly refurbished resort that is ideal for couples, families and anybody looking for a tropical feel of what the Keys are all about.

“People just check in and stay,’’ said Pelican Cove General Manager Jamie Easterline.

With good reason. Make that reasons. Each of Pelican Cove’s 63 renovated guestrooms and suites are spacious and airy. Each also comes with a comfortable balcony – a great place to view a Keys sunset. It’s also a great headquarters to explore the upper and middle Keys – from Key Largo and Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to the north to Marathon Key and its terrific Turtle Hospital, a nonprofit facility dedicated to saving the lives of sea turtles, to the south.

Pelican Cove is one Keys most relaxing and unpretentious resorts. Just bring your board shorts, T shirt, flip flops and fishing pole. The resort’s private beach is a great spot to catch some South Florida rays, or get in the water for snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Each of the paddle activities at Pelican Cove is free to resort guests, so there’s no excuse not to take to the water early in the morning or at sunset.

For boaters, Pelican Cove’s marina has slips that can accommodate boats up to 22 feet. The marina also is a good place to set out on some ecotours, as well as snorkeling and sunset cruises.

Poolside, the resort’s Wild & Lime bar for ground zero for tropical drinks, light lunches and afternoon snacks. The Wild & Lime bar helps set the tone for a great Pelican Cove experience and ultimate Keys “feel.’’

So check into Pelican Cove resort. You’ll have a hard time checking out.
