The Florida Keys Wildlife Society, a friends group for the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges Complex and the National Key Deer Refuge, kicks off this season’s full moon kayak excursions Monday, Jan. 29, departing at 4 p.m. from Big Pine Kayak Adventures on Bogey Road. The two-hour paddle traverses through the National Key Deer Refuge. “Kayaking in the refuge is a fantastic way to experience nature,” Florida Keys Wildlife Society board member Nancy Chatelaine said.
The monthly kayak excursions, which are led by an experienced guide, include the use of a kayak and gear. A $25 donation to the Florida Keys Wildlife Society is requested.
Dates and times of future excursions are:
- 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27;
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29;
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 27;
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27;
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26.
