Pierre’s, led by chef Jouvens Jean and built in the French colonial style of West Africa, is one of the best known restaurants in the Florida Keys. It opened in 1999. The property has been on the market for several months, but owner Hubert Baudoin has not widely publicized the listing.
It’s not clear yet if the restaurant will stay open after Morada Bay changes hands, or if new buyers could seek to build a hotel or condo in its place.
Morada Bay also includes the more casual Beach Café, as well as a 1,300-square foot office building and 574 feet of beachfront. It hosts a monthly Full Moon party and is a popular site for weddings.
Baudoin, born in West Africa’s Ivory Coast to French parents, bought the Morada Bay property in 1995 for $1.3 million, according to Monroe County property records. Baudoin also owns the nearby Moorings Village resort, where the Netflix television show Bloodline was filmed. Developers once planned 200 condominiums on the Moorings site, but Baudoin led a fight against the project and eventually acquired the land.
The resort is across the street from Morada Bay, which has an address at 81600 Overseas Highway in Islamorada.
