Islamorada Mansion Sells For Record $13.1 Million

A four-bedroom mansion on a lush, 6.5 acre compound in Islamorada has sold for more than $13.1 million, a record for the Florida Keys. The property includes a pool, a spa, a chef’s kitchen and a 500-foot boat dock, as well as a two-bedroom guest house. Its grounds were designed by the well-known landscape architect Raymond Jungles. “Every room in the house has a different view,” said Jill Swerdlow, a broker at EWM Realty International who handled the sale with partner Audrey Ross. “It’s like your own private resort. The waters are full of manatee and tarpon and there are ospreys and other birds nesting in the grounds.

”Swerdlow is the daughter-in-law of the mansion’s former owner, South Florida developer Michael Swerdlow and his wife Sherie. The Swerdlows bought the oceanfront property, called Palm Harbor, for about $1.1 million in 1994, according to Monroe County property records. They built the house, which has an address at 80999 Old Hwy. in Upper Matecumbe Key, in 1996. The buyers are listed on property records as Timothy and Charene Murray. The previous record for a Keys home sale was a $12 million deal for a mansion at 1 Card Sound Rd. in Key Largo’s private Ocean Reef Club.
