What is a domain name?
A domain name is the essence of your company's online identity. It is the address your customers use to find information about your products and services on the web. Domain names allow Internet users to type in a name, such as yourdomain.com, to identify a numeric Internet Protocol (IP) address such as 207.15.12.173. The purpose of domain names is to allow users connected to the Internet the ability to find web sites without having to memorize the long, numerical (IP) addresses that actually locate the computers or servers on the Internet.

What are the fees to register a domain name?
The Keys Treasures pricing for one year is a flat $19.95 per year and $37.95 for two years. The price includes all fees associated with registering your domain name including internic fees and parking fees.

What does it mean to "register" a domain name?
There is a central registry of all domain names on the Internet. For your domain name to become a part of the registry, your domain name needs to be added to that registry. "Registering" a domain name means you are associated with that domain name for the period of the registration. Only ICANN-approved Registrars (such as the one Keys Treasures uses) have access to the database.

Who should register a domain name?
Anyone thinking about establishing a presence on the Internet should register a domain name. You don't have to utilize it right away, but you can reserve it for your future use. Domains are being registered at the rate of more than 300,000 per month- they go quickly!

How long does the registration process take?
Keys Treasures’s application process should only take a few minutes to complete. As an ICANN-approved registrar, all registrations take place in real time- once your application has been processed and approved, your name is registered.

Is it possible for someone to register my domain name after I have registered it?
The availability of .com, .net and .org domain names is verified through a central registry system. This system prevents a domain name that is successfully registered from being registered by another person or entity. The Keys Treasures registration and processing system updates the central registry in real time.

What methods of payment does Keys Treasures accept?
Keys Treasures accepts all major credit cards for Domain Name Registration: Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.

If a domain name is already registered, can I find out who owns the name?
Yes. If you check the availability of a domain name and it is already registered, click on the box: "Show Registrant Information". This will display the contact information associated with a registered domain name.

I've got my domain name, now what?
There are many things you can do with your new domain. Some people want to build a website for their corporate or personal use. If that is the case, you must contact a web design/ hosting company. (See Keys Treasures WEB Hosting for our special hosting offers.) Once they have a website ready for you, we can "point" your new domain to that website.
Some want custom email, (you@your-new-domain.com, for example). Contact your hosting company to get your server information, and they can "alias" your domain name to your email.
Some just want to resell their domain name. In that case, you may certainly sell your new domain to whomever you like. Simply contact us to transfer the domain name to your buyer.

Again, a domain name is not a website, just a web address for a website. If you want your new domain to be a web address for a website for your corporate or personal use, you must contact a web design/ hosting company. Once they have a website ready for you, we can "point" your new domain to that website. If you already have a website, and registered a new domain for it, be aware that some hosting companies do not accept a domain pointing to their host site (members.abigisp.com/your-abigisp-site~template1765, for example) Also, it may take a few days for the routing to point to your new host on an acceptable server
