Update on "Gilligan Lost"
With some relief I am happy to report the following. A couple thought to be missing at sea never left their island, the U.S. Coast Guard said today.
Friends of the couple told officials that Robert and Andrea Gilligan had left Sunday with plans to sail to Sawyer Key. Their 18-foot white boat has the name Puke written on the side. U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Luis Diaz said today the couple was located less than an hour after the Coast Guard issued a news release Sunday alerting the public that a search was ongoing. ''The couple has been located,'' Diaz said. ``They were never at sea.''
And so with no lives in peril the humor of this story can be fully enjoyed. The Gilligan's are safe and still on the island, Summerland Key. The rumor that they were skinny dipping at the lagoon during the time the neighbor reported them missing has not been substantiated. It was further rumored Gilligan may have gotten lost searching for a golf ball hit out of bounds by Mr. Howell. Whatever the case, if you know the Gilligan's please let them know we are happy to know they are safe and continue to enjoy their life on the island.
