Amara Cay Resort has a new pool and a new program. Locals are now welcome to spend Anchors Aweigh Sundays lounging at Amara Cay’s new 3,200-square-foot, zero-entry pool. It’s free, of course.

Amara Cay ResortWith 125 pool chairs, there is plenty of room for tourists and locals alike to enjoy the Italian-inspired and seafood specialties of Oltremare and drink specials with a revolving mix of live entertainment and DJs. The spacious deck area can hold 250 guests comfortably.

“It’s a balancing act between guests and tourists. We want locals to feel comfortable and guests to enjoy themselves on their stay,” said General Manager Kara Lundgren. “We want everyone to have fun and come enjoy what we like to call, our ‘casual elegance.’

In the cooler months, the Wave Pool is kept at a comfortable 84 degrees, and during the hot summer, is chilled. The Wave Pool is handicap accessible and the 5’ pool depth is designed with families in mind. At night, color changing mood lights add to the relaxing ambiance. The deck features Wi-Fi and pool-side service such as appetizers, smoothies, frozen drinks, beer, and wine. The Tiki bar’s signature drink, “The Wave,” comes in a collectors cup.

Guests can also enjoy the beachfront and pier with a spectacular view of Alligator Lighthouse. And, locals can call ahead to reserve one of the 12 slips on the pier.

Just beyond the Tiki bar, construction is under way on a new lawn area for yard games. Amara already has games like Connect Four and life-size chess for guests, along with pool floats, and a “Beach Read” book program.
